Built by the Wrigley family in 1929, the oceanfront Catalina Casino has been a fabled landmark in Avalon for over seven decades. Never intended for gambling, the Casino (Italian for "place of entertainment"), has been utilized principally as a concert hall and auditorium, and was a favorite venue for Big Band orchestras in the 1940's. The building's distinctive Moorish Alhambra-inspired architecture and exquisite Art Deco interior design provide an atmosphere of elegance for any social function, and the acoustic properties of the round ballroom are excellent. With breathtaking views of the ocean and harbor from the upstairs terrace, concerts in the Catalina Casino Ballroom are truly a memorable experience.
